This article is the result of a purposeful study to investigate the deep meaning of immortality in Iranian architecture in the contemporary period and compare it with the concept of sustainability and sustainable architecture as well as sustainability in Western architecture in the contemporary period. It seems that not much definition and research has been done on the causes and factors of immortality in Iranian and world architecture. What has been done in a limited way is more to describe the buildings of different architectural periods. Due to the closeness of the meaning of these two words to each other, there is no clear demarcation between the word sustainability and sustainability to date. The purpose of this study, while expressing the fundamental differences between the two concepts of immortality and sustainability in architecture, is to express the characteristics, factors and principles affecting eternal architecture in Western and Eastern thinking. Therefore, this study seeks to find the reason and the code of immortality in the collection of architectural works left over from the past. The secret of sustainability and the concepts of sustainability are discussed. The results of this study are based on the fact that living architecture and spiritual spirit are considered as a factor of permanence and immortality of today's architecture. And the Colosseum is examined. The present study is a logical argument in terms of the nature of the subject. The results of the present study are based on the fact that the fundamental difference between immortal and sustainable architecture is the existence of the element of meaning and spirituality. In addition, Western thinking seems to be shifting from materialistic thinking to immaterial and metaphysical thinking.
