Factors Affecting the Quality of Urban Spaces through Environmental Art Case Study: Park-e Daneshjoo and City Theater Area

Abstract

Whereas some of the urban spaces have gone to a place where there is only a place for traffic and social exchanges is less visible; Environmental art can be used as an effective tool that plays an important role in increasing the quality of public spaces. The purpose of this study is to investigate the impact of environmental arts on the promotion of environmental qualities. This article has been analytical and applied. In the case study, data collection was performed using direct observation and questionnaire (120 questionnaires) and the data were analyzed descriptive with SPSS software and correlation tests were used. The selected sample was the area of Daneshjoo Park and Shahr Theater Theater located in District 12 of Tehran Municipality, the most important reason for which was the existence of artistic activities and the potential of space to promote arts. The results of the observations show that public arts have a direct impact on environmental qualities. One of the most important qualities that increase due to the presence of environmental art is the qualities of vitality, flexibility and sociability. Also, the existence of arts such as live music, street performances and water-view have a great impact on creating the mentioned qualities. The fresco in the category of dynamic arts has the greatest impact on the quality of event with a significance of 0.01 and 95% confidence, and the same art in the category of static arts has the greatest impact on the quality of visual richness with a significance of 0.001 and 95% confidence. The artistic activities in this area are mostly located in the Shahr Theater and in the Daneshjoo park, such activities are less visible or there are only some types of static arts in this part.
