Abstract
Contemporary cities, following technological, environmental, and cultural developments, are on the verge of a fundamental transformation in the concept of space, identity, and human interaction. Classical and modern urban planning theories, from Ebenezer Howard's Garden City and Tony Garnier's Industrial City to Haussmann's Physical Order and Le Corbusier's Radiant City, each attempted to build an orderly, clean, and functional utopia, but in practice they either fell into the trap of spatial capitalism or, by ignoring human and cultural dimensions, created mechanical and soulless spaces. Reactions such as the theories of Jane Jacobs, Lynch, Alexander, and Newman, although they restored the human, perceptual, and security dimensions, failed to connect with technological and environmental developments. With the emergence of smart, data-driven, and digital cities, although productivity and surveillance improved, the justice gap, identity crisis, and sense of rootlessness intensified. Aiming to integrate the three foundations of “human-centeredness, ecology, and geographical culture of regions,” this article presents a new theory titled “metaverse spiderweb urban design,” which sees the city not as a machine or a network, but as a living web composed of ten intertwined strands: security, culture, governance, environment, economy, energy, infrastructure, mobility, spatial justice, and technology. In this model, the digital city of the future integrates environmental data and social presence in a metaverse, self-healing, and cultural context through the coexistence of physical and virtual reality. The present theory is based on the assumption that the metaverse city is not a continuation of the smart city but a philosophical break in human understanding of place; Where humans, culture and environment are intertwined in a symbiotic, sustainable and intelligent web.
