Abstract

Introduction: In the present era, despite the increasing environmental challenges, organizations widely apply green management policies. On the one hand, these policies can arouse environmental anxiety in employees by creating concern about the future of the earth, and on the other hand, by aligning with individual values, they can strengthen their emotional commitment to the organization.

The Purpose of the Research: The present study was conducted with the aim of investigating the effect of green management policies on employees' green innovation by considering the mediating role of environmental anxiety and emotional commitment to the organization.

Methodology: This study is applied in terms of purpose and descriptive-survey in terms of method. The statistical population consists of employees of the Semnan Province Environmental Organization, from whom 189 people were randomly selected as a sample. The partial least squares (PLS) method was used to analyze the data. The findings indicate the appropriate validity of the measurement tool and the reliability of all constructs is confirmed with a coefficient higher than 0.7.

Findings and Discussion: The results of the study show that green policies have a positive and significant effect on employees' green innovation. Also, these policies positively and significantly affect environmental anxiety and affective commitment to the organization. On the other hand, environmental anxiety and affective commitment each have a positive and significant effect on employees' green innovation. However, the findings show that environmental anxiety and affective commitment to the organization do not play a mediating role in the relationship between green policies and employees' green innovation.

Conclusion: Therefore, for the effectiveness of green management policies and achieving sustainable green innovation, organizations should design their policies in a way that both strengthens the sense of belonging and purpose and puts realistic and hopeful awareness on the agenda.
